RSLP - Pediatrics Specialist needed for North Island Hospital, Comox Valley

Role and Facility Information

DATES ARE FLEXIBLE. We are looking for 3-7 days of call at a time. If you would prefer to do two 3 day locums back to back with one day off in between, this can be arranged.

Exclusively a hospital-based locum providing on call coverage at North Island Hospital, Comox Valley. Can expect calls for neonatal resuscitation, ED consults, admissions and on-going care of patients admitted to pediatric ward, telephone advice from local physicians and midwives.

Emergency Framework

Patients present to the Emergency Department. Subsequently assessed by ER Physician. Peds may be consulted for support, either through telephone advice or in-person assessment +/- admission.

Call Expectations

Call goes from 0800 to 0800 (24h at a time).

Combination of Powerchart and paper charting.

Level of Support/Care and Policy

Welcoming Procedures

Upon arrival, locum physician is asked to pick up welcome package/hospital ID from security desk (near ED) and open 24/7.

Orientation

A local pediatrician will provide an orientation ideally in person with a hospital walk-around. On the off chance that this is not possible, orientation will be provided over the phone by a pediatrician and if possible we will arrange for a walk-around with a GP colleague.

Accommodation and Transportation

The clinic does not provide accommodation.

Accommodation Description

Accommodation and car rental, if required, will be the responsibility of the Host physician or Health Authority for all ā€œCā€ and ā€œDā€ communities on the RSA Communities Designation list. LRBC will reimburse for travel to and from the locum community
